WAVEBAND Gallery

The top-waveband changes every month. It features original artwork created by selected artists for SHARE A BRAINWAVE.

The first waveband for Share a Brainwave was created by the Danish artist Jannie Weimar who has made several of the beautiful illustrations for the Reflexioner-magazine. She describes herself as follows:

“Call me whatever you prefer; a teacher who loves art or an artist who loves teaching…

I am educated at the Royal Academy of Arts – specializing in photography and collage. And I make my living teaching children the wonders of art and design.

The picture was called: Wavy hair and a comb (or - in Danish - Bølgehår og redekam)”

WAVEBAND 2 - March 2007 - was created by Jan Oksbøl Callesen.

Wave 2 - Jan Oksbøll Callesen

The March 2007-waveband for Share a Brainwave was created by Jan Oksbøl Callesen, who humble describes himself as follows:

“Born 1973. Educated at Danmarks Designskole. Part of Gul Stue - a designer community based in Copenhagen.”
Jan has made several memorable illustrations for Reflexioner - check out, for instance, the Cowboys he created for Reflexioner on Sundays.

The April 2007-waveband was created by Fredrik Clement, who has photographed several of the intriguing visuals in Reflexioner throughout the years. At fredrikclement.com you can an idea of his wide range of photographs. And - by the way - he LOVES coffee!

The May 2007-waveband for Share A Brainwave was created by the Danish illustrator Kristian Eskild Jensen. Kristian’s visual interpreations of the Reflexioner-themes and -articles are to be found - and enjoyed - in every printed issue so far. Be it nano-technology, ambient rhetoric, the allstars-team of the major worldreligions or psykology…Kristian has twisted it all with his pen and imagination.

WAVEBAND 5 - June 2007 - was created by Simon Høgsberg

Wrinkles

The June 2007-waveband for Share A Brainwave is created by the Danish photographer Simon Høgsberg. He describes himself as follows:

“Photographer Simon Høgsberg: graduated from School of Media in London
in 2001. Since then he has been working as a freelance photographer
in Copenhagen. Winner of Anders Bording’s photo prize 2007 for a
series of portraits (”Faces of New York”) made for the wonderful
Danish passenger magazine Ud & Se. www.simonhoegsberg.com”

Simon has also created the thoughtprovocing “Thought project” for Reflexioner on Stars. And we definately think this rinkled forehead is a very thoughtful interpretation of the brainwaves-meme as well :-)

The July-August waveband is created by Julie Asmussen. She is co-founder of Spild af Tid ApS (Waste of Time), a Copenhagen-based studio that works within all fields of graphic design, illustration and animation. You can explore a lot more of her work at spildaftid.dk.

Waveband 7 - September 2007 - created by Karen Vibeke Bagge

Karen Vibeke Bagge

The September waveband is created by Karen Vibeke Bagge. She holds a Ba and a Ma in women’s wear from Central Saint Martins and The Royal College of art. She prefers to create things to wear and has an eclectic and colorful approach to her work. Besides designing garments Karen has a keen interest in collage, print and patchwork - reworking older techniques and methods into more modern and edgy pieces of artwork, illustrations or whatever you like to call them… She has also created the fantastic “lining” of Reflexioner on Roots.

Waveband 8 - October 2007 - created by Vibe Bredahl

Vibe Bredahl

The October-waveband was created by Vibe Bredahl. She is educated at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts 1994-2000. She works in various media including drawing, installation, photography and artist books. Travel, both in general and in particular, is a theme that runs throughout her work. In 2000 she founded Hurricane – an indenpendent publishing firm dedicated to promotion and publishing of extraordinary, odd and exclusive books on art, poetry, design and children literature.
