On waves and accidents

Sjaldan er ein báran stök
This is an old Icelandic saying, which literarily means that a wave (bára) rarely (sjaldan) comes alone (stök). Waves always come one after another. This saying is used when one bad thing after another seems to happen, they seem to come in waves.
Don’t you recognize the feeling that sometimes accidents come in waves, you have an accident and then you have another and another and another…. ?

Oh yes - I most certainly know the feeling that one wave of sadness and accidents takes the other. However - that luckily seems to apply to happiness as well.

The problem is, however, that it would be a good thing if the waves of sadnes and happines were mixed. Too much of a bad thing and too much of a good thing might make an ok balance.
