In loving memory…

When I was a teenager I dug out the old wooden armchairs that used to belong to my greatgrand-parents from the basement in my parent’s house. The chairs were beautiful, old, carved, deeeeeep chairs that invited and inspired my guests to share their thoughts and lofty ideas.
But the chairs were old and eventually they were just too battered - and I had to put them back in the basement. For 10 years they’ve been sitting in there. Until this weekend, when my family and I went through all the stuff that had compiled in the basement during the 10 years my parents have been living abroad.
Seeing the old chairs again awoke many memories - but eventually they had to go… they were just too old, too battered, too unrepairable to save. But I did take one last picture to remind me of the chairs and the many brainwaves shared in them:
