Just noticed that they actually have taken new photos... So here is the man with the typewriter one year later.

And here: a snorkel diver going down to experience a strange circle of sculptures on the sea bottom.

This is a good picture. Both literally and in a metaphoric way. There is a great story in that shoe... just waiting to be told. Just look at it. inhabited by sea weed and probably other sea organisms as well.

There was an underwater exhibition in the Caribbean a year ago. One of the sculptures was a man sitting at a desk with an old typing machine.
Somehow a scary sight... an expression of the fragility of humankind. And gradually the ocean will take over the exhibition, and make it part of the underwater environment. Probably, if the photos of that exhibition were taken now, a year later, there would be both sharks and octopus' in them!

There are other ways of effectively kill a shoe!

(the girl scout is in fact just heating her sneakers at the bonfire on camp :-) )

A shoe washed ashore...

I vividly remember the first time I heard of the notion "a body washed ashore" an expression that in Danish - Strandvasker (literally "Beachwasher")- sounds even more gory than the English version.

The idea of a decomposed body washing ashore from out nowhere filled me with fear. And still does. But I'm glad that this shoe seems to have found a new beauty and a second life in the waves of seaweed.
