Hard rock waves
May 20th, 2007 by trinemaria
I went to Australia a couple of years ago - and we went to Hyden in Western Australia to see Wave Rock - and it was fantastic - even though I have never been in a hot place with so many flies :-)
Waves are soft and gentle - and this wave is hard and solid and frozen in heat - in a formation that is actually quite frightening - because it seems as if the wave could break any moment - and cover you in solid rock:

Unfortunately I don’t have a photo from my own trip to share here - but I found this on Wikipedias article on Wave Rock (and it is licensed under GNU by Fredrik Bülow who took it - thanks Fredrik).

Absolutely awesome. I’m surpriced I never heard of this. Looks like it qualifies as one of the seven wonders of natural history.
Looks fantastic… Never heard about it either.
Nadja, I promised once that I would write a post on this blog about waves. Honestly I don’t think that is going to happen.
However, I would like to send some great photos of waves. I have many, because I like to take nature photos and happen to live in Maroubra. Maroubra actually means “thunder”… due to the characteristic sound of the huge waves hitting the rocky coast (look it up with Google Earth… you can actually see the waves from space).
Nothing sophisticated, just real water…
So, how do I do that?
