Oh yeah - and the all-time classic example of why focusgroups are not always the best to decide on the viability of new innovations (although they can be great for testing the flaws and features of things allready launched, waiting to be improved)
“Why would anyone want to listen to music while on the road” (on testing Sonys idea for the walkman - or so the story goes - I’m not actually sure it’s true)

yes, love that photo because it reminds me that sometimes it´s good to be VERY “longhaired” (one of my hatewords often used to patronize) - but don´t cut your hair - and remember DAD :-)
According to a lecturer in Market Analysis I had back in Denmark, focus group surveys were undertaken prior to the introduction of SMS.
The conclusion from the survey was that there was no market for SMS. Consumers agreed typing messages felt stupid and unnecessary time consuming while it was so much easier to just call.
However, SMS was introduced despite the unfavourable survey results, as everybode would know!
According to the lecture, when he first started to send SMS´s to people, they called him up and said very puzzled:
